#116 – Microsoft’s X018 and Tetris Effect

Microsoft is trying to drill something into our collective brains in their X0 event return: a nail, finely engraved with the following message: it’s a URL which points to a website where you can sign up for their email mailing list. The message on the ensuing email? ‘We’re focusing on games’. Our reply? ‘Finally’. No use though, it’s a no-reply email and we get a bounce back from mailer-daemon.

This week we’re also discussing Tetris Effect, Microsoft purchasing Obsidian Entertainment & inXile Entertainment, Crackdown 3’s release date, Void Bastards, the return of Xbox’s Winter of Arcade, new games coming to Xbox Game Pass, The Game Awards 2018 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

And finally, we list our Top 3 Mobile games, and play RESET Mini-game: Character crossover.

#106 – Celebrating our favourite indie games (and We Happy Few)

This episode is so indie. Like you wouldn’t believe. This week we’re discussing our favourite indie games of all time, including the newly released indie title (debatable?) We Happy Few. Spoiler alert: “it’s interesting but also sh*t”.

This week we’re also discussing our excitement around Gamescom 2018, the mysterious PS4 game tentatively titled ‘Project Mephisto’, new Melbourne gaming bar B. Lucky & Sons, Diablo 3 coming to the Switch, anxiety around the Resident Evil 2 Remake Collector’s Edition, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy being delayed and Marvel’s Spider-Man.

And finally, we list our Top 3 indie games, and play RESET Mini-game: Character Crossover.

#86 – Metal Gear Survive isn’t terrible. Counterpoint: Yes it is.

Metal Gear Survive is a game in which the player needs to survive (that is; choose to continue living) after playing a bastardised spinoff of a renowned and beloved series. We’re glad to report we got out alive, if barely, and on this episode we’re going to tell our story. Melodramatic? Yeah. Overreaction? I mean.. yeah. But still.

This week we’re also discussing Nintendo Labo (if anyone knows how to pronounce it, fax us), Overwatch Blizzard World update, Playstation’s new Totaku figurine line, Genital Jousting getting an Australian release and probably the last time we’ll ever talk about Hidden Agenda.

And finally, we list our Top 3 Games we’ve bought more than once, and play RESET Mini-game: Character Crossover.

#69 – Our SNES caught fire. It is what it is.

Despite what you may have read in the episode title, I’d like to quickly dispel some scathing non-existent rumours: our SNES did not catch fire. Well not yet anyway, we haven’t received the Street Fighter 2 re-release cartridge. But our plan is to pop it in when it arrives, place it under a giant Ryu effigy and host an Australian version of Burning Man. It’s going to be great.

This week we’re also discussing DropMix, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Miiverse shutting down, South Park: The Fractured But Whole releasing uncensored in Australia, some exciting new Nindies, PUBG accolades, First 4 Figures Solid Snake Statue, Zelda Symphony of Goddesses, Overwatch changes, EB Games rental service Swap ‘n’ Play and the original Xbox One model being discontinued.

And finally, we list the Top 3 Games we’d like to see remade in fully immersive VR, and play RESET Mini-game: Character Crossover.

#55 – Put your faith in Far Cry 5

That’s a clever title right? Cause Far Cry 5 is about a religious cult. Faith, and all that. Cheers. Anyway, lots to talk about this week. We’ve played The Surge, passed Little Nightmares and played a bit of that Pokemon Magikarp Jump game. Are they worth playing? Well I’d be spoiling the episode if I answered that here. Oh well, the answer is yes, yes and not really.

This week we’re also discussing Red Dead Redemption being delayed to 2018, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, XBOX game pass, PlatinumGames teasing a new IP, Marvel Heroes Omega, Splatoon 2’s Switch Boxes for sale and indie kickstarter game Blasphemous.

And finally, we list our Top 3 Games for new gamers, and play RESET Mini-game: Character crossover.
